Welcome The Youth Cancer Trust is a unique charity based in sunny Bournemouth. It provides free, fun activity based holidays for young people aged 14 to 25 suffering with cancer or any malignant disease from anywhere in the UK or who are patients of any UK hospital. You can also come on a holiday if you have been in remission upto 5 years. To help raise much needed funds, to allow more young people to experience new activities, have a break away from their treatment, and to allow their carers and family a break too, the Youth Cancer Trust are looking for willing volunteers and teams to take part in our Three Peaks Challenge over 23rd to 24th May 2009. YCT Three Peaks Challenge This is a continuous challenge attempt to scale, and travel between, the highest mountains in Scotland (Ben Nevis), England (Scafell Pike) and Wales (Snowdon). This includes some 25 miles of hiking, 10,000 feet of climbing, and 450 miles of driving. Your team of walkers and drivers will need to work well together, have the determination to walk in all weathers, and possibly in darkness, have the ability to navigate in poor conditions, and the drive to successfully reach the finish in Llanberis still smiling!! You will need a suitable vehicle, and a good general standard of fitness, plus walking clothing and equipment as described, although we will provide any specialist equipment including VHF radios, emergency group shelters, event timing system, safety marshals on each mountain, and basic first aid facilities. We will also provide accommodation near Fort William on Friday 22nd May for your team. We hope to raise as much money as possible for the Youth Cancer Trust, but require that each team agree to raise at least £2000. Places will be limited for 2009, and in the first instance you need to register online, with your registration cost of £360 (this is included in your fundraising of £2000 for Youth Cancer Trust).
