Would you like to join a group of similar minded people and take on the Three Peaks Challenge in 2009?

Once again Merseyventure will be offering a number of Three Peaks Classic Challenges throughout 2009. Each Classic Challenge is designed for groups of between 6 and 8 people, and is open to individuals, pairs, or small groups - until the maximum group size of 8 walkers is reached. You will also have a dedicated driver and vehicle, and one of our very experienced Mountain Leaders will be with you throughout the Challenge, offering help and advice.

The Challenge - The Three Peaks Classic Challenge is a weekend event including one nights stay in Fort William, then a continuous challenge attempt to climb Ben Nevis (Highland), Scafell Pike (Lake District) and Snowdon (Snowdonia), hopefully within a twenty-four hour period. The Challenge includes some 10,000 foot of ascent, 24 miles of walking, and long periods of travel in our minibus. It also includes walking in the dark, and walking over rugged terrain.

The Walkers - You should idealy have at least some basic walking experience, be fit enough to be able to complete around 30 minutes of light exercise without becoming out-of-breath, and must have 'bags' of determination. You must be able to complete a health declaration, and unless you are used to physical exercise we suggest you check with your doctor or GP before attempting the Challenge.

The Guides - All of our Three Peaks Challenge Guides are fully qualified Mountain Leaders, with plenty of Challenge experience. Your guide will stay with your group through the entire Challenge, will give you a pre-Challenge safety briefing, and will be able to offer help and advice right through the weekend. You guide will be in touch with the Merseyventure Support Vehicle by our licenced VHF radios.

Winter dates offer a fantastic opportunity to see the three mountains in a completely different setting, with a winter qualified mountain leader - for the experienced walker only. Please note that a 24 hour challenge is unlikely, and extra equipment will be required (or supplied if requested).
