NEW..! Join our Three Peaks Facebook Group..!

The highest mountains in England (
Scafell Pike: 978m), Scotland (Ben Nevis: 1344m) & Wales (Snowdon: 1085m) offer a great challenge for anyone hoping to climb them back to back - and even more so if trying to complete them all in 24 hours which is the most popular choice.

Apart from the scaling of each mountain, you will need to transport yourself and your equipment from one hill to the next. This is usualy achieved by car, MPV or minibus, with some 450 miles of driving thrown in. Teams who are struggling for transport should check our '
Logistics' page for some transport and support options.

For groups requiring a mountain guide, training and navigation days or event support, or just some help and advice with organising their own three peaks, please see our '
Event Support' page.

Those wanting to try a more unique 3 Peaks attempt, the challenge has also been completed by cycling the course, uni-cycling each peak, running the entire distance, and each year there is a 3 Peak Yacht Race

Environment and Community.

As the National Three Peaks 24 Hour Challenge has grown more and more popular in recent years, a great amount of pressure has been put on to public footpaths, car parks and local services, communities and even some mountain rescue teams. This is especially true at Wasdale Head, so please read the information included on the "24 hour challenge" webpage to ensure that your event will be low impact with minimum disruption.

The Three Peaks Challenge has attracted a some unhelpful media interest more recently - so please make sure that you are aware of the issues, and sensitive to the communities and areas which you will visit.

Keep group sizes small, stay on made-up footpaths and tracks, park considerately and take all rubbish and litter away with you.

Leave only footprints,  take only photographs"
Experience and Safety.

Before you embark upon your Three Peaks Challenge attempt, you will need to make sure that you and your group have the
fitness, endurance, basic hiking knowledge or training and experience, and that you have the right equipment and clothing available so that your attempt will be a safe one. A challenge team member should have an average to good basic standard of both stamina and fitness.

Your group leader should have relevant experience to spot mountain exposure amongst your team, and have a good understanding of  navigation on the hills. It is possible to hire the services of a qualified mountain guide to lead you around the Three Peaks paths, especially if tackling Scafell Pike at night, and this should seriously be considered if your mountain walking experience is limited.

A number of team training events will help you assess your fitness, ability and any new equipment before your challenge. How about the
Yorkshire 3 Peaks in 12 hours? Start and finish at Horton-in-Ribbledale, this 25 mile challenge visits Pen-y-Ghent, Whernside & Ingleborough.
